A Red Goldendoodle Fell Asleep in the Barn Hay With a Tiny Friend

Golden straw crunches softly under them, but neither of these two is going to notice anytime soon. A curly red Goldendoodle lies sprawled in the barn hay, its shaggy coat glowing like copper and its eyes closed in a deep, peaceful sleep. Nestled against the dog's chest, a small white baby goat with tan-tipped ears rests with its eyes shut, completely relaxed. Weathered barn boards, a wicker basket, a couple of feed sacks and bales of hay stack up in the background, filling the scene with rustic warmth.

Goldendoodles are a cross between Golden Retrievers and Poodles, and they are often friendly, social and eager to please, though temperament can vary depending on the individual and its parents. Their curly or wavy coats can tangle quickly, especially after rolling in hay, so regular brushing and professional grooming every several weeks are common. Barns are full of interesting smells but also hazards, including sharp tools, rodent bait and moldy feed, so dogs should be supervised there. Check curly coats for burrs, seeds and ticks after barn visits, and speak with your vet about parasite prevention if your dog spends time around livestock.

The hay may need fluffing and the dog may need a good brushing later, but none of that matters right now. This is a nap shared between two very different, very contented friends.
