A Boston Terrier Stood Guard Over a Sleeping Piglet in a Basket
A big wicker basket lined with a soft gray blanket makes a perfect nest, and inside it a black and white Boston Terrier has lowered her head while a small pink piglet sleeps tucked below her chin. The Boston's pointed ears are alert and her eyes are shut halfway, as if she is guarding the little one even in a doze. Piles of laundry, toys, and a pair of jeans sit in the background, and the room is cozy and well used. A stuffed toy lies beside the basket, as if one of them gave it up for the night.
Many dogs show protective instincts around smaller or younger companions, and Boston Terriers are known for being loyal and affectionate with their household. A basket or bed with soft sides gives any pet a feeling of security, and it helps to place it away from drafts and busy walkways. Keep laundry and small items out of reach so curious snouts don't get into trouble, and check that the basket is sturdy and has no loose strands that could tangle a paw. Your vet can advise on safe bedding for pets of different ages.
Penny is sound asleep, certain that the Boston has things under control. The dog keeps her chin by the little one's head. In a house like this, the night watch is in very good paws. Not even a floorboard creak seems to disturb them.
