A Havanese and a Piglet Squeezed Into One Cardboard Box
A plain cardboard box has become the most popular spot in the room, and inside it a black and white Havanese lies curled up with her fluffy head resting at the edge. Snuggled against her is a small pink piglet with her snout on the dog's paw and her eyes half closed. The floor is bare concrete, a blue towel is draped nearby, and a plant sits in a corner. The box may be ordinary, but the two friends fill it perfectly.
Cats are not the only ones who love a cardboard box. Many dogs and other small animals like the feeling of snug walls around them, which can help them feel safe and secure. A box can make a cozy bed, as long as it is dry, clean, and free of staples, tape, or loose bits that could be swallowed. Havanese are friendly, affectionate dogs who like being near their companions, so a box shared with a friend suits them well. Replace the box when it gets soggy or worn, and ask your vet about proper bedding if you are unsure.
Penny and the Havanese look as though they chose the box together. It is not very large, but they have made it work. Good friends can make a home out of almost anything. Even the plain concrete floor feels warmer with them there.
