A Sunny Windowsill, a Gentle Mutt, and a Heap of Sleeping Kittens
The windowsill is wide and sunny, and a tan and white mixed-breed dog has stretched across it with a contented smile. He wears a green collar and keeps one paw gently on the sill, close to a pile of sleeping kittens. There are orange, grey, black, and white ones in a cozy heap, with their faces tucked and their whiskers twitching. White curtains and a frosted window give the room a soft glow.
Windowsills are perfect for kittens, who love to bask in the warmth and watch the outside world. They do get cold easily, so a sunny spot makes a lovely place to nap. Make sure the window is secure and the sill is sturdy, since kittens can squeeze into surprising spaces. Dogs enjoy watching out of windows as well, and many mixed-breed dogs are good companions for kittens when the introduction is made calmly. If your kittens are young, ask your vet for advice on feeding, vaccinations, and care.
The dog glances toward the glass and then back at the litter, as if he cannot decide which view is nicer. A breeze stirs the curtain, and one kitten curls tighter against his leg. He holds still. If there is one thing a good watch dog knows, it is that the best things happen when no one is in a hurry.
