A Gentle Giant Napped in the Laundry With a Fluffy Orange Cat

AI imagenewfoundlandorange catlaundry basket

There's a lot of dog in this basket, and just enough room for one small cat. A black Newfoundland has settled in with his big head resting on a pile of soft towels and his eyes closed. Next to him, a fluffy orange cat is curled up on the fabric, her paws tucked and her face relaxed. The wicker basket is overflowing, and the lamp in the background lights the room in a gentle glow.

Newfoundlands are large, strong dogs with a famously sweet temperament. They are often described as patient and gentle, and have a long history as water rescue dogs. Their thick double coat needs regular brushing, and they tend to drool, so keep a towel handy. A dog this size should always have plenty of room to stretch out.

Orange cats, most of whom are male, are often friendly and food-motivated. A cat sleeping beside a giant dog is a good sign that she feels safe. Even so, size differences matter, so supervise their play and make sure the dog can't accidentally flatten a cat who wanders into the wrong place.

Laundry baskets hold a special magic for pets. They're soft, they're warm, and they smell like family. Here the towels have become a bed for two, and the folding will have to wait. Nobody here minds the delay.
