A Sphynx Cat and a Tortoise Woke Up Under the Same Quilt

The cream quilt is rumpled and cozy, and two faces are just emerging from it. A grey Sphynx cat with enormous ears and wrinkled skin looks out with amber eyes, a little sleepy and a little suspicious. Beside her, Moss the tortoise peers from the quilt's fold with his small, bright eye and his domed shell tucked in. A wicker basket, a window with a white curtain and a pile of soft toys sit in the background.

Sphynx cats have almost no fur, which makes them love warm, cozy places. They often burrow into blankets, and they enjoy being close to people or other warm bodies. Because they feel the cold, most are indoor cats and benefit from a warm bed or blanket. Tortoises also need warmth but are very sensitive to damp and drafts. A quilt can be a pleasant place for a brief rest, but a tortoise needs a proper enclosure with the right heat and light. When different species share a space, supervise them and make sure they are comfortable.

This morning the quilt is the best place in the house. The cat is warm, the tortoise is cozy, and neither is in a hurry to leave. They blink slowly at the day, and the day waits politely. Morning is for taking it slow, and these two are experts at that, whatever the hour or the weather outside.
