Surrounded by Sunflowers, a Newfoundland Puppy Sat With a Pony
Tall sunflowers surround them on every side, and two friends have found the sunniest spot in the garden. A fluffy black Newfoundland puppy sits with his pink tongue out and his dark eyes bright, his round face full of cheer. Beside him, Pepper the cream-colored pony lies with his legs tucked under him and his mane falling over his cheek, his gaze quiet and soft.
Bright yellow blossoms dot the scene, and a weathered wooden fence stands behind them. The soil is dry and patchy, and little green leaves and unopened buds poke through. The puppy's paws look huge compared to the rest of him, a sign of how big he will get.
Newfoundland puppies are fluffy, sweet-natured, and known for their love of water. They grow into very large dogs, so large-breed puppy food and careful exercise matter, and your vet can guide you. Their thick coats need regular brushing, and they can overheat in warm weather, so shade and water are essential. Sunflowers are generally considered safe around pets, but their stalks and leaves can scratch, and any plant may upset a stomach if eaten in quantity. Ponies enjoy sunshine, too, but they need access to shade and fresh water. Supervise any time a puppy spends with a pony.
The sunflowers face the light and so do the friends. A warm patch of garden and a good companion are all they need.
