A Cream Golden Retriever and a Calf Peeked Out of the Barn Together
Two heads share one doorway. A pale, cream-colored Golden Retriever leans out from the left with a soft, relaxed smile, while a brown-and-white calf peers around the old wooden frame behind him with big, dark, curious eyes. Green grass and a fence post show outside, and a few stray bits of straw cling to the weathered boards. It looks as if both of them heard something interesting in the yard and arrived at the exact same moment.
Light cream Golden Retrievers are the same breed as their darker cousins, just with a paler coat. They are known for being friendly, trainable and good with other animals, and they tend to be happiest when they have company. A dog with a job, such as fetching or carrying a toy, is usually a content dog.
Peeking is natural behavior for calves, who are curious by nature. They investigate new sounds and smells with their whole face, ears forward, and they usually feel braver when a steady companion is next to them. If you let a dog and a farm animal share an open doorway, make sure the latch is secure and nobody can wander into the road.
Clover seems to have decided the yard is worth exploring, so long as her big pale friend goes first. The two of them look like a small welcome committee.
