A Porch Hammock, Some Warm Sun, and Two Very Sleepy Neighbors
The porch hammock sags in the middle, and two friends have rolled right into the dip. An apricot Goldendoodle is curled into a round, curly ball, nose tucked in, while a brown-and-white calf lies against her with her white-blazed face resting on the rope. Afternoon sun is spilling across the boards, and a pair of work boots, some flowerpots and a rail with a plaid blanket sit nearby.
Goldendoodles are a mix of Golden Retriever and Poodle, and they are usually friendly, social and energetic. Their curly coats can be very soft but they mat easily, so regular brushing and professional grooming are important. Many owners find the breed loves company, which fits the idea of a snoozing buddy beside her.
Hammocks are fun for pets, but a few safety notes apply. Make sure the hammock is rated for the weight, that the knots and hooks are secure, and that a pet cannot get tangled in loose rope when she hops in or out. A calm, supervised nap is ideal, and it is best to keep the whole thing low to the ground in case anybody tumbles.
The best naps come in the middle of an ordinary afternoon with nothing to do and someone warm to share it with. Clover and her curly friend are doing exactly that, swaying a little with the breeze.
