Who Was Driving? The Boston Terrier and a Calf Shared the Tractor Seat
The tractor has not moved in years, but it has two very proud riders. A black-and-white Boston Terrier stands up on the edge of the seat with his big ears pricked and his round eyes fixed on the camera, while a brown-and-white calf has settled right on the seat next to him, nuzzling against his side. Behind them a woodpile and a faded blue shed make a rustic background.
Boston Terriers are small, sturdy dogs with a tuxedo-style coat and a lively, friendly personality. They are generally good-natured and love people. Like other flat-faced breeds, they can overheat easily and may snore, so keep exercise gentle in warm weather and make sure they always have shade and water.
Old farm equipment looks charming but is a risky place for pets. Rusty metal, loose bolts and sharp edges can cause cuts, and a machine that could start or roll is no place for animals. Keep dogs and young livestock clear of working machinery, and keep any old tractors parked, locked and away from play areas.
For the moment, the only thing the Boston is steering is the mood. Clover has decided that any seat is a good seat as long as her buddy is on it too, and the Boston looks proud to be asked to share. Not bad for a tractor that has gone nowhere at all.
