A Tiny Chihuahua Had Her Own Duckling Line at the Barn Door
The barn door is open, and the threshold has a very small crowd. A chocolate-brown Chihuahua in a little brown sweater sits at one end of the doorway with her big ears pricked and her dark eyes sparkling, and lined up beside her along the worn board is a row of yellow ducklings, all facing the same way. Bits of straw are scattered on the weathered wood, and behind them the barn is dark and cool.
Chihuahuas are the smallest dog breed, but they are known for having a big personality. They are loyal, alert and often devoted to one special person. Because they are so small, they can get chilly easily and may enjoy a sweater like this one in cool weather. They also need gentle handling and should be supervised around bigger animals.
Barns can be good homes for ducklings once they are older, but very young ones need extra warmth, usually from a heat source or a mother duck. A draft-free, dry spot with clean bedding and fresh water is important. Because ducklings can be messy with water, bedding often needs to be changed frequently, and a vet or poultry expert can help with questions.
The Chihuahua looks like the leader of the line, and the ducklings look like they have joined her team. Together they make the sweetest little welcome committee at the barn.
