The Little Maltese Kept Looking Back to Make Sure Everyone Was There
A small white Maltese trots along a pebbled path, glancing over his shoulder to make sure his followers are keeping up. Behind him, a perfect single-file line of yellow ducklings marches along the stones, each one carefully following the one in front. A bench, shoes, a lamp and a blue bowl sit along the walkway in the warm evening light.
Maltese dogs are small, gentle companions with long, silky white coats. They are playful and affectionate, and they often form close bonds with their people. They need regular brushing to keep their coats from tangling, and their small size means they are best supervised around other animals. A short walk each day is enough to keep a Maltese happy.
Ducklings naturally follow a leader in a line, which keeps them close and safe. They tend to follow the first creature they see and feel safe with, which is why you may see them trailing after an unexpected guide. Ducklings need clean water, warmth and proper food, and a vet or poultry expert can offer advice.
The Maltese looks very proud of his parade, and the ducklings look very determined to keep up. It is a short walk, but it is clearly an important one. Even the shortest walk feels important when you are leading a whole family. Nobody in that line is willing to fall behind, and the evening light makes the whole hallway glow.
