A Havanese Watched the Ducklings Walk the Fence Rail in Single File
A black-and-white Havanese sits at the base of an old wooden fence, looking sideways with bright, curious eyes, while a line of yellow ducklings makes its way along the lower rail. Straw and fallen leaves cover the ground, and a tipped-over bucket and a few bare trees stand in the soft evening mist behind them.
Havanese are small, friendly dogs with long, silky coats and a cheerful personality. They are playful and social, and they often love being right in the middle of whatever their family is doing. Their coat needs regular brushing, and they do best with daily walks and games. They are usually good with other animals when introduced gently.
Ducklings often walk in a line, following each other along fences and paths, which helps keep them together. If ducklings and dogs share a yard, a fence like this one is helpful for keeping everyone safe, but there should always be a sheltered place for the ducklings. Ducklings also need warmth, clean water and the right food, and a vet or poultry expert can help.
The Havanese looks like the head of the farm, with a perfectly organized line of ducklings walking by. It is a tiny parade on a very quiet evening. Some evenings are made for small parades and slow walks. This one has everything it needs, including a very watchful little dog.
