The Smallest Dog on the Farm Takes the Lamb to Watch the Pond
A tiny chocolate Chihuahua sits at the edge of a pond, ears perked, looking out over the reeds. Next to her, a white lamb that's nearly twice her size gazes in the same direction, a little wool tuft over her forehead. The water is still and green, and cattails sway in the breeze. The Chihuahua somehow looks like the older sibling, keeping watch with serious dark eyes while Cotton stands quietly beside her. They look like two friends who have come here many times to watch the pond. A breeze moves the reeds, and the Chihuahua's little ears turn toward the sound.
Chihuahuas are the smallest dog breed and are famous for big personalities. They're loyal, alert and often attach closely to one person. Because they are so small, they chill easily and can be hurt by rough handling or falls, so they do best with gentle play and warm spots. They can also be wary of larger animals, which makes slow, calm introductions important. Near any pond, supervision is wise since small pets can slip on muddy banks. Lambs, too, can be curious about water, so keeping a close eye is the safest approach. Cold ground is hard on small dogs, so a blanket or a short visit usually works better than a long one.
The pond doesn't offer much to see, but together it seems like the best view on the farm. Cotton blinks slowly and the Chihuahua stays alert for both of them.
