The Chihuahua Went Splashing, and the Bunny Stayed Dry Nearby
Water flies in every direction as a black and tan Chihuahua stomps through a shallow creek, her big ears flapping and her eyes wide with delight. At the water's edge, a small brown bunny sits on wet mud and watches the splashing with her ears straight up. Muddy banks, a chain-link fence, and green grass fill the background, and the afternoon light sparkles on every droplet.
Water play can be great fun, but it comes with a few things to watch. Many small dogs enjoy a splash in shallow, calm water, and it can be a good way to cool off on a warm day. Still, creeks can carry bacteria, algae, or sharp objects in the mud, so rinse off your dog afterward and check her paws. Never let a pet drink from stagnant or unknown water. Rabbits generally dislike getting wet, since damp fur can chill them, so the bunny's choice to stay on the bank is a smart one. Dry your pets thoroughly after any water adventure, and ask your vet if you are unsure what is safe in your area.
The Chihuahua is clearly the daredevil here, while the bunny has decided to be the audience. Each seems entirely happy with her role. A good friendship has room for both the splasher and the spectator, and nobody needs to join in to be part of the fun.
