A Grumpy-Looking Persian Met Four Ducklings on the Grass
The grass is soft and green, and a very serious cream Persian cat has just come face to face with four small ducklings. Her flat little face wears a frown that is probably just her natural expression, her copper eyes wide and her long fur lit by the afternoon sun. In front of her, four fluffy yellow ducklings stand in a half circle, bills pointed, their little orange feet planted in the clover. One is tilted toward her with great curiosity, and a flower pot waits beyond the fence.
Persian cats are known for their long, thick coats, round faces, and calm temperaments, and many prefer a quiet, predictable household. That luxurious fur needs daily brushing to prevent tangles. When any cat meets another kind of animal for the first time, a slow introduction is best, with plenty of space to retreat. Ducklings can be very bold and will waddle right up to almost anything, so supervision is important to keep everyone safe. If you are thinking about introducing a cat to baby birds, talk to your vet first, since cats have strong hunting instincts and each one is different.
For now it is a standoff of the cutest kind, all wide eyes and soft peeping. The Persian does not move, the ducklings do not retreat, and each seems to be quietly deciding what to make of the other.
