A Husky Walks Ahead, and the Ducklings Struggle to Keep Up
Down a long gravel path between a fence and a patch of garden, a red and white Husky walks straight toward you with an air of purpose. Behind him, six yellow ducklings trail in a loose, uneven line, some hurrying to keep up and others pausing to peck at the ground. The dog's ears are up, his gaze is steady, and his tail curls over his back. Dust hangs in the air behind them, lit by the low sun.
Huskies are famously energetic travelers, so a steady walk is right up their alley. They do best with daily exercise and can be strong-willed, which means consistent routines are helpful. A Husky leading a flock of ducklings has to slow down considerably, and so would a real dog, since little legs can't match a long stride. Walking with ducklings should always be supervised, and a quiet, enclosed path is best. Bring fresh water along on any long walk, for dogs and little birds alike.
The path itself has a country charm, with packed stones, bits of grass at the edges, and some old buckets and flowerpots lining the side. The warm, slightly golden light makes each duckling's fluff glow.
One duckling has fallen a little behind, and the dog seems to know it. He keeps his pace easy, ready to pause whenever the line needs to catch up.
