He Was Only Going for a Stroll Until the Ducklings Climbed Aboard

The sun is low and golden over a small backyard, and a big ginger cat is out for a stroll with passengers. Four ducklings sit on his back, bunched near his shoulders, holding on with tiny feet and looking completely at ease. His tail curls up behind him in a plume, his ears are pricked, and he seems to be watching the path ahead with serious concentration. A gray shed and a wooden fence stand in the background, with a few plants catching the light.

Maine Coons are among the largest domestic cat breeds, and they have a reputation as gentle giants. They tend to be sociable, fairly easygoing and fond of following their people from room to room. Their size and shaggy coat give them a sturdy look, and many of them have a soft, chirping voice that seems too small for their bodies. Long-haired cats like this one usually do well with regular brushing, especially through the shedding seasons. In real life, ducklings are better off on the ground in a protected pen, where they can safely waddle and forage, and a cat's back is no place for a baby bird.

As a daydream, though, this one is hard to beat. The ginger cat strolls on, perfectly steady, as if a living tour bus were just another part of his day. The ducklings do not seem worried about the destination at all.
