A Shih Tzu Puppy and a Pony Watched the Frost From the Warm Side of the Glass
Frost has crept across the glass and turned the world outside into a soft white blur. At the window, a Shih Tzu puppy with a fluffy white-and-brown face sits upright on a knit blanket, and a shaggy dark pony stands right behind him, her nose near the glass. The room is warm and full of ordinary things, like a plant on the shelf, a mug and some folded clothes. Together they look out at the cold morning.
Shih Tzus are small, affectionate companion dogs with long, silky coats that need regular brushing. They are happy to be lap dogs and tend to love being near people. In cold weather, small dogs lose heat faster than large ones, so keep outdoor time short and consider a sweater if your vet agrees. Ponies grow thick winter coats and can handle cold better than many animals, but they still need shelter from wind and wet, plenty of forage and unfrozen water. Winter mornings can be gorgeous, but they come with extra responsibility for animal owners. Check water bowls, keep paths clear of ice and make sure every animal has a warm, dry place to rest. A cozy window is a fine way to watch the weather together.
Some animals love snow, and some prefer to watch it from the inside. This pair looks quite happy with the second plan.
