A Bichon and a Lamb Looked Like Two Clouds in the Fall Leaves

It is hard to tell where the Bichon's curls end and the lamb's wool begins, but the leaves are easy to see. The pair are nose to nose in a heap of orange and brown, the Bichon looking out with dark, bright eyes and the lamb lying with her front legs stretched ahead. A pot of orange mums sits on the porch behind them, and a pair of rubber boots waits by the door. Everything is warm, bright and crunchy.

Bichon Frises are cheerful, playful dogs with soft curls that need regular brushing to prevent tangles. They tend to enjoy attention and love games in the yard. Autumn leaves are fun, but piles can hide sharp objects, damp mold or other trouble. Mums, a favorite fall flower, are mildly toxic to pets if eaten, so keep potted ones out of reach. Lambs are playful, too, and love to leap and run, but they should be kept in safe, fenced spaces. When playing with both a dog and livestock, supervise all interactions, and make sure play does not become rough. A good shake and a brush after the leaf pile will keep everyone clean and comfortable. Short play sessions with plenty of rest in between are best for young and small animals.

The leaves will be raked eventually. Until then, there are two very good reasons to leave them where they are.
