A Very Small, Very Fluffy Vampire Bat Has Landed on the Porch
A very small, very fluffy vampire bat has landed on the porch. A red tabby Exotic Shorthair kitten stands on the wooden steps wearing a pair of black felt bat wings fastened with a little harness. Its ginger stripes swirl across a round, plush body, and its flat face, tiny pink nose, and big copper eyes give it a serious, somewhat grumpy look that makes the costume even funnier. Behind it, a carved pumpkin, small gourds, a watering can, fake spider webs, and an open front door glowing with warm light set the Halloween scene, with a pair of sneakers in the corner.
Exotic Shorthairs are sometimes described as the easygoing, short-coated version of the Persian, with the same sweet, flat face and gentle nature but much simpler grooming. Their short noses mean they can be more sensitive to heat and stress, so costumes should be light, loose, and worn only briefly. Wing costumes that attach with a harness are often a better choice than full outfits, because they leave the head and legs free. Always supervise, check that straps are not rubbing, and remove the costume if your kitten seems uncomfortable.
We will call him Count Biscuit, which sounds suitably spooky for a kitten this round and fluffy. The Count does not look thrilled with his wings, but he is certainly committed to the role.
