Harvest Season Has a New Centerpiece, and It Has Enormous Ears
Harvest season has a new centerpiece, and it has enormous ears. A grey Devon Rex kitten sits on a weathered wooden porch ledge surrounded by autumn decorations: striped green gourds, a pale blue pumpkin, a bumpy orange gourd, and tall bundles of dried corn stalks tied with twine. The kitten's wavy coat ripples with soft gray stripes, and its large, wide-set ears and pale golden eyes give it an elfin, almost magical look. Fallen leaves are tucked among the decorations, and a window and a doorway glow softly behind it.
Devon Rex cats are known for their curly, short coats, huge ears, and mischievous, playful personalities. They are often described as clownish and very affectionate, and they love being close to their people. Their thin coat makes them sensitive to cold, so chilly porches are best enjoyed only for short visits. Fall decorations like gourds and corn stalks are not generally toxic, but kittens may chew on dried leaves or husks, which can upset their stomachs or pose a choking risk. Supervise curious kittens around displays, and toss any decorations that start to mold.
With those big ears and that curious face, this kitten looks like a little woodland sprite who wandered in from the fields. It fits right into the harvest display, and it is easily the most charming part of it.
