A White Kitten Almost Disappeared Into the Snow on the Porch
A fluffy white kitten sits on the snowy steps like a tiny snow spirit, her ears pink and her pale eyes turned to the side. Pine garland with cones and red berries runs along the edge of the step, and a dusting of fresh snow covers the wood. Behind her, boots, a blue bag and a small pumpkin are lined up beside the door, and a bare yard fades into the cold light.
Norwegian Forest Cat kittens grow into large, sturdy cats with thick, water-resistant coats made for cold climates, though a tiny kitten has not yet grown into that coat. Kittens still chill easily, so outside visits should be short and supervised, with a warm towel waiting. White cats may also be sensitive to sun on their ears and nose, so ask your vet about sun protection. Garland made from real pine or holly can irritate a kitten's mouth, so keep it out of reach or use artificial greenery.
Let's call her Pearl. She sits perfectly still, blending into the snow, and she looks like she could be part of the decorations. Soon someone will scoop her up, and she'll be wrapped in a blanket, but this little winter moment will be remembered. Moments like this are fleeting, and that is exactly what makes them worth savoring, a bit of pure winter quiet on a porch full of garland.
