A Brown Tabby Kitten Sat Among the Presents Like One of Them
A little brown tabby kitten sits on a woven rug in the middle of a sea of kraft-paper presents, each tied with twine and a sprig of pine. Her ears are tipped forward, her green-gold eyes are bright and her striped tail curls around her feet. The tree behind her glows with orange slices and ornaments, and magazines, slippers and a cup sit nearby.
Norwegian Forest Cat kittens grow into big, sturdy cats with thick double coats, and they are usually friendly, curious and fond of climbing. A pile of presents under the tree is irresistible to any kitten, but wrapping can hide food smells and ribbons. Keep gifts with food, candy or chocolate out of reach, and avoid leaving string or tape where she can chew. Anchor the tree so a climber can't pull it over. A tall cat tree nearby gives her a safe place to climb and survey her kingdom.
Let's call her Birch, for her brown stripes. She seems perfectly at ease among the packages, as though she knows they are all for her. The family may have a hard time deciding which gift to open first, but Birch has already decided that she is the best surprise of all. It is a gentle, glowing holiday scene, and one more proof that the best gifts sometimes arrive with whiskers, a striped tail and a very curious look in their eyes.
