A Devon Rex Kitten With Tiny Antlers Checks Out the Snow
Big green eyes, giant pink ears and a tiny pair of antlers make this cream Devon Rex kitten look like a magical forest creature. She sits on a snow-dusted wooden porch, her thin wavy coat soft and pale, her paws neatly placed in front of her. Behind her, a wreath on the door, a pair of boots and a pile of pine branches hint at a house that is ready for the holidays.
Devon Rex cats have a short, wavy coat that offers little insulation, so they feel the cold more than many other breeds. They are playful, affectionate and sometimes mischievous, and they love being near their people. A porch covered in snow is no place for a kitten to stay, and with this breed it's especially wise to keep outings extremely short and bring her inside to a warm room. Antlers should be loose and removed quickly, and always watch for signs of stress. Your vet can help with winter care.
Let's call her Elfie. She's a very serious reindeer for a moment, and then she'll want to be back inside by the heater. The antlers wobble with every turn of her head, and the whole scene is wonderfully silly and sweet. Winter has a way of making everything feel a little magical, and a kitten with antlers and enormous ears is about as magical as it gets on a snowy porch.
