Crumb Checked the Santa Cookies Very Carefully Before Bed
Nose almost touching a crumbled chocolate chip cookie, the plush grey kitten leans low over the plate with her ears tilted back. The counter is dusted with crumbs, and a green cloth and a checked dish towel lie beside her. A sprig of pine with red berries sits to the side, and the soft light of the kitchen makes the scene feel quiet and sweet.
Kittens are curious about anything on the counter, but cookies are not good for cats. Chocolate is toxic to cats, as it is to dogs, and many cookies also contain raisins, nuts, or sweeteners that can be harmful. Cats don't taste sweetness like we do, but they may still nibble out of curiosity. Keep holiday treats covered and away from the edge, and call your vet if your kitten eats any.
Persian-type kittens like this one have flat faces and soft, long fur, and they tend to be gentle and calm. They love lounging, and they don't usually jump as much as other cats, but a curious kitten can surprise you. Offering a kitten-safe snack or a treat made for cats gives her a way to join the fun without risk, and a toy on the counter can redirect her attention.
We'll call her Crumb. She's just checking that Santa's snack is fresh, and she's taking her duty very seriously.
