A Golden Retriever Puppy Waits at the Door Like the Official Greeter
A fluffy golden Retriever puppy sits on the welcome mat with his head tipped slightly to one side, as though he has just heard a footstep. His fur looks soft as a teddy bear's, his ears are warm gold and his black nose is perfectly round. Above him a dark green door wears a wreath of pinecones, greenery and a tan bow, and a coat and a pair of sneakers wait in the entryway.
Golden Retrievers are friendly, patient and eager to please, which makes them great family dogs. They tend to be good with children and visitors, and they love to carry things in their mouths. Puppies need lots of play, gentle training and chew toys, and they benefit from early socialization so that they stay calm when guests arrive.
Front doors are exciting for a puppy but can be risky. Teach him to wait at the door, use a leash or a gate when guests arrive and make sure he wears a collar with an ID tag or is microchipped. Wreaths can contain berries and greenery that are not safe to chew, so hang them high. Your vet can tell you which holiday plants to avoid.
For now, he sits like a tiny welcome committee, ready to greet anyone who walks up the steps. He looks absolutely sure that the next visitor will be happy to see him.
