The Scarecrow Was Meant to Scare Visitors. The Kitten Used Him as a Pillow.

A scarecrow in a red and black plaid shirt and a floppy burlap hat leans against a post, and snoozing at his feet is a tiny pink Sphynx kitten. Her wrinkled skin shows every soft fold, her big ears point up and out, and her eyes are tightly closed. Straw from the scarecrow's sleeves spills near her tail. Beyond the porch are dry cornstalks, a jack-o'-lantern and a few autumn leaves on the planks.

Sphynx cats have little or no hair, so they love warmth, and a sunny porch can look very appealing. Their bare skin can sunburn and can chill quickly, though, so keep outdoor time short and always supervised, and bring her in as soon as the air cools. Many Sphynx kittens sleep much of the day and curl up near any warm body, including a stuffed scarecrow. Straw can be sharp and dusty, so keep it from her mouth and eyes. Sphynx cats often need gentle skin care, and your vet can tell you what suits your cat best.

Peaches has picked an excellent bodyguard. The scarecrow looks calm and friendly, and the little sleeper beside him seems to trust him completely. Halloween can be busy, but for now it is a very quiet porch, and nobody is brave enough to wake her, not even the scarecrow.
