A White Samoyed Sat in the Snow and Nearly Vanished
A cloud of white fur sits on the middle of the porch steps, smiling the famous Samoyed smile. The dog, Frost, has dark, bright eyes, a black nose and perky ears, and the snow on the steps blends with her coat so well that she almost disappears. Evergreen garland dusted with snow runs along both sides of the staircase, a lantern glows by the door and bare trees wait in the winter yard beyond.
Samoyeds come from the cold regions of Siberia and were bred to herd and pull sleds, so snow feels like home to them. Their thick double coats insulate them well, but they shed a lot and need regular brushing, especially in winter. They can overheat quickly in warm rooms, so give her a cool spot indoors. The upturned corners of her mouth give the breed its famous smile, and it makes nearly everyone smile back. Check her paws for ice balls and salt after a snowy time outdoors, and keep her from eating lots of snow. Samoyeds are friendly and social, and they love company.
Frost looks perfectly at home on her wintry stage. She seems to be waiting for visitors with a grin that says everyone is welcome. A white dog on a snowy step is a very pretty sight, and she seems to know it, sitting tall with her chin up.
