The Santa Hat Was a Little Big, but the Havanese Wore It Anyway
Wearing a tiny red Santa hat with a white pom-pom, a black and white Havanese named Patches looks off to the side with a soulful, sweet expression. Her long black ears frame a white muzzle, and her silky coat is fluffed up around her chest. Behind her, a brick fireplace holds a stack of logs and a garland of pine, and sunlight from a nearby window lights the room.
Havanese are small, friendly dogs who love to be with their families, and they often get along with everyone. Their silky coats need regular brushing, and holiday hats and costumes can tangle the fur, so remove them when the fun is over. A hat should be loose and comfortable, and a dog should never be left alone while wearing one. A fireplace needs a sturdy screen, and logs and fireplace tools should be kept away from curious paws. Havanese are quick learners and often enjoy tricks, so a short training game, with a treat for each success, makes a nice holiday activity for the whole family.
Patches seems to wear her hat with quiet pride. She waits by the hearth like she is saving a spot for someone special. It is a gentle, simple holiday picture, with a warm fire, a bright window and a small dog who looks perfectly content to wait.
