The Centerpiece Was Perfect, Until a Sphynx Kitten Joined the Display
A wicker cornucopia lies on its side on the table, pouring out gourds, a shiny red apple, a bright orange pumpkin, green leaves, and stalks of wheat, and a gray Sphynx kitten sits next to the display like part of the arrangement. Her wrinkled skin, huge ears, and thoughtful eyes make her look carved from smooth stone. A kitchen with a window and wooden cabinets waits in the background.
Autumn centerpieces are lovely, but they are a minefield for curious cats. Some decorative plants and leaves can upset a cat's stomach, small ornamental gourds may be chewed, and wheat or dried grass stalks can be hazards if swallowed. Use a table decoration that is out of reach or choose pet-safe items, and check whether any greenery is toxic before bringing it in. Sphynx cats are playful and climb well, so a centerpiece is an open invitation. A Sphynx also loves warmth and attention, so it can be cheerful to give her a heated spot of her own, like a soft blanket in a sunny window, and a play session to take the edge off.
Hairless breeds tend to look especially dramatic against warm autumn colors, which probably explains her serious expression.
She holds still beside the cornucopia as if she is part of the harvest, a quiet little ornament with ears.
