A Havanese Sat in a Sea of Wrapping Paper With a Sheepish Look
Sheets of brown wrapping paper stretch across the floor in loops and crinkles, and a black and white Havanese sits right in the middle, ears back and eyes lowered in a sheepish look. His silky coat is dotted with white patches, his little face is tilted, and his paws are tucked together. The paper rolls around him in great curled waves.
Behind him, an open cardboard box sits by the window, a pile of scarves lies on the floor, and a pair of slippers waits near a plant. Soft light falls on the paper. We'll call him Parcel. The gift was apparently never the point, because the wrapping paper has been unwrapped as thoroughly as a present.
Havanese are small, cheerful companion dogs with a silky, wavy coat and a love of people. They are smart, playful, and eager to please, and they often do well with trick training. Wrapping paper is a typical temptation for puppies and small dogs, because it crinkles and tears. A little paper usually isn't a problem, but swallowed paper, ribbon, or tape can upset the stomach or cause a blockage, so clear the scraps quickly and call your vet if he swallowed a lot. Havanese also dislike being left alone for long stretches, so daily play and company help prevent boredom mischief. Brush his coat regularly, since the silky hair can mat and collect bits of paper.
Parcel sits quietly in the paper, small and fluffy and sure that everyone will forgive him by dinner.
