A Brindle Boxer Climbed Into the Dishwasher and Looked Very Sheepish
Only a Boxer could look this dignified while sitting in a dishwasher. A brindle Boxer sits on the pulled-out bottom rack, his ears folded back and his dark eyes tilted up with a sheepish expression. His wrinkled face is serious, a little worried, and his white chest and toes are dusted with crumbs. The metal rack bends slightly under his weight.
Behind him, the kitchen counter holds a bottle of dish soap, a basket of sponges, a scrub brush, a dish towel, and a potted plant by the window. Warm light fills the room. We'll call him Tank. He appears to have climbed in to lick the plates clean and then forgotten how to get out.
Dishwashers are a magnet for dogs because the plates smell like dinner. They are also dangerous: sharp knives and forks can cut paws and mouths, and detergent pods and residue can be harmful if licked. Keep the door closed when you are not loading it, and never leave detergent within reach. Boxers are strong, playful, and food-driven dogs that stay puppy-like for years, and they are smart enough to learn what the open door means. Offer him a puzzle feeder or a frozen chew toy instead, and give him daily exercise to burn off energy. If he licked any detergent, call your vet or a pet poison hotline right away.
Tank sits in the rack, big and serious, waiting patiently for someone to explain how to get out.
