A Brindle Shih Tzu Moved Into the Basket of Clean Laundry
Surrounded by soft towels, T-shirts, and tangled laundry, a brindle Shih Tzu sits in a wicker basket with a tiny, guilty smile. His fluffy face peeks out between the folds, his round eyes shine in the warm light, and his small ears hang to the side. Clean clothes spill over the rim of the basket and onto the wooden floor.
Behind him, a hallway runs toward a dim doorway, a pair of sneakers sits against the wall, and a houseplant stands in the corner. More laundry lies scattered along the floor. We'll call him Biscotti. He has clearly decided that a basket of fresh laundry is the world's coziest bed, and he is not budging.
Dogs like soft, warm places that smell like their people, which makes a laundry basket a perfect nest. Curling up in a pile of clothes is natural, and many dogs also chew or drag laundry from the basket. Socks and small garments can be dangerous if swallowed, so don't let him carry them off. A basket nap is fine, but give him his own soft bed nearby, ideally with an old shirt that smells like you. Shih Tzus are affectionate companions that love to be close to their people, and they do best with plenty of attention. Brush his coat regularly, since laundry fibers and fluff can tangle in his hair.
Biscotti settles in, small and smug, the happiest dog in the cleanest bed in the house.
