A Pomeranian Redesigned the Flower Bed Before Anyone Woke Up
The flower bed has been thoroughly reorganized. Loose soil is piled in heaps, tiny green sprouts poke out sideways, and in the middle of it sits a little orange Pomeranian with a fluffy chest, perky ears, and a wide-eyed gaze aimed upward. A watering can and a garden hose rest by the fence, and the little dog's paws are dark with dirt. The whole garden looks as though a very small tornado passed through.
Pomeranians are tiny dogs with huge personalities, bold and alert, and they carry a surprising amount of energy for their size. Digging is a natural behavior for many dogs, and gardens offer loose dirt and interesting smells. A designated digging spot, like a sandbox with buried toys, can give your dog a place to dig without ruining the flower bed. Supervise yard time, as small dogs can be at risk from sun and heat, and keep fertilizers and pesticides away from pets. Pomeranians also have thick double coats, so brush the dirt out once it dries, and talk to your vet if you have questions.
The garden will need to be replanted and the Pomeranian will need a bath. But looking at that tiny, hopeful face, you would never guess who was responsible for the redesign, until you spot the paws. By evening the sprouts will be tucked back in, and the Pomeranian will already be eyeing a different corner of the yard.
