A Cocker Spaniel Turned the Bathroom Into a Paper Party
Streamers of toilet paper hang from the shower curtain, the tub, and the towel rack, and a brown and white Cocker Spaniel stands in the middle with long, curly ears and a few strips draped over its back like a scarf. Wide eyes look up over a wet nose, and the ears are pulled back in a sheepish fold. Empty paper tubes lie on the floor, and the whole bathroom looks like a surprise party.
Cocker Spaniels are friendly, sweet-natured dogs with a love of people, and they were bred to flush game birds, so they are used to using their noses and mouths. A soft roll that unspools beautifully is a spaniel dream. Keep bathroom doors shut and rolls out of reach, and give your dog its own toys to shred, like a soft rope or a safe puzzle. Those long ears need care too, so check them for dampness and dirt, and keep them dry after baths. Small amounts of tissue paper usually pass, but call your vet if you think a lot was swallowed or your dog seems unwell.
Cleanup will take a little while, and nobody will see the funny side right away. But the spaniel's wide eyes and fluttering streamers make for such a charming scene that the whole story is hard to stay upset about.
