A Tiny Chihuahua Turned a Big Cardboard Box Into Confetti
Cardboard pieces lie in a deep layer across the floor, torn into ragged strips and little squares, and in the middle sits a tiny black and tan Chihuahua with huge dark eyes and ears set slightly back. The dog looks directly at the viewer with a guilty, slightly worried face. A laundry basket and a pair of shoes sit against the wall, and the whole room has the quiet of a finished job.
Chihuahuas are the smallest dog breed, but they have enormous personalities and a bold, loyal streak. They can be surprisingly strong chewers and diggers for their size, and they like to burrow into cozy spots, which is why a cardboard box can be so tempting. Because they are tiny, they get cold easily and need warm beds and blankets, especially in winter. Cardboard in small bits usually passes, but too much can upset the stomach, so ask your vet if you are worried. A soft, covered bed gives a Chihuahua the cozy den it wants without the demolition.
The box did not survive the afternoon. The Chihuahua, however, seems to feel it was the most exciting delivery of the week, and she sits with ears back and eyes wide, ready to accept any punishment as long as it doesn't involve leaving the room. A fresh, sturdy bed will be waiting nearby tomorrow, and the little dog will certainly inspect it with great suspicion.
