A Cream Scottish Fold Starts a Snowstorm Inside the Living Room
Feathers are still drifting through the air as though the pillow burst a moment ago. Sitting in the middle of the torn white fabric is a cream Scottish Fold with amber eyes and a tiny smile, her little folded ears pressed neatly against her round head. Slippers sit near the wall, a grey blanket lies in a heap, and a soft light streams across a floor covered in snowy down. She looks delighted with herself.
Scottish Folds have those distinctive folded ears and round, sweet faces, and they are usually affectionate, easygoing cats. But even a sweet cat has a predator's instincts, and a plump pillow can feel like a bird to a cat who loves to pounce, kick, and bite. Feathers tend to be harmless on the floor, but a cat who swallows a lot of them or the pillow fabric can get an upset stomach or a blockage. Sweep up carefully and keep pillows out of reach when she is feeling frisky. Provide a few kicker toys, which are long stuffed toys cats can grab and bunny-kick, to give her a pillow-like target that is safe. If she swallows fabric or stuffing, talk to your vet.
She seems to think she has found the best snow day ever, even without the cold. The vacuum will not agree, but the cat certainly does.
