Someone Drew a Bubble Bath, and a Tabby Climbed In Before Anyone Else

Soap bubbles are piled high in the old white tub, and in the middle of them sits a brown tabby with an alert expression and wide amber eyes. Foam clings to his chest and shoulders, a few bubbles glisten along the rim, and a blue towel hangs over the edge nearby. A toothbrush holder and a basket of laundry sit in the corner of this tiled bathroom, where somebody was clearly planning a relaxing evening.

Many cats dislike getting wet, but some, especially certain breeds and curious individuals, are fascinated by water. A tub with bubbles can be warm, interesting, and full of things to bat. The problem is that soap is not made for cats. Bubble bath and shampoo made for people can irritate skin and, if licked off, upset the stomach. If your cat gets into the suds, rinse him with clean lukewarm water, dry him gently with a towel, and keep him warm until he is dry. Keep the bathroom door shut when the tub is filling, and never leave a cat alone near deep water. If you notice drooling, vomiting, or skin irritation, call your vet.

He looks perfectly at ease, as though he has been taking bubble baths for years. The fluffy beard of foam is just a bonus, and the best part is the calm way he surveys the room, waiting for someone to bring a towel.
