The Paint Can Tipped Over, and a Cavalier Spaniel Wears the Evidence
Blue paint is splashed across the wood floor in a bold puddle, and a tipped paint can lies on its side next to a brush. Sitting at the center is a Blenheim Cavalier with big brown eyes, long silky ears, and bright blue speckles across his nose, chest, and paws. He gazes up with the soft look that Cavaliers have perfected, as though to say that the paint came to him. The couch and lamp behind him add a cozy glow to the room, but all eyes are on those speckles.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are gentle, affectionate dogs with a famously sweet nature. They love being close to their people and tend to follow them from room to room. That devotion can lead them straight into a home project. If paint gets on your dog, act quickly. Wipe off wet paint with a damp cloth and use a mild pet-safe shampoo, and do not use solvents like paint thinner on his skin or fur. Many paints can irritate the mouth and stomach if licked, and some contain ingredients that are harmful to pets, so check the label and call your vet or a pet poison hotline if he swallowed any. Keep paint cans closed and pets in another room during home projects, and let the fumes clear before he comes back.
He sits there with his big eyes and a blue-spattered nose, the very picture of innocence. The floor will take a lot of scrubbing, but he will be forgiven.
