The Husky Looked Calm. Then Everyone Noticed the Living Room.

Feathers are still drifting through the air when the Husky turns to face the room. Juno, a red and white Siberian with pale blue eyes, sits right in the middle of what used to be a pillow, with soft white fluff piled around her paws and a lone slipper on the floor behind her. Her head is tilted just so, and her expression says she has no idea how any of this happened. The living room looks like it caught a very small blizzard.

Huskies are bred to pull sleds for hours, so they carry a lot of energy and a strong digging, tearing and chewing streak. A pillow is the right size, the right texture and makes a very satisfying noise when it gives way. Many Huskies also get destructive when they have too little exercise or too much time alone. Long walks, a good run in a safe fenced area and sturdy chew toys can help redirect all that drive.

It is smart to pick up the stuffing right away, because swallowed fabric or filling can cause trouble for a dog's stomach. If a dog eats a lot of it, a call to the vet is the sensible move.

Juno does not seem worried about any of that. She sits tall in her snowy mess, ears forward, wearing the calm of someone who has just finished a big project and is waiting for the applause.
