The Schnauzer Stared Out the Window and Ignored the Remote

Walter has found something very interesting on the far side of the room, and it is definitely not the remote. A black and silver Miniature Schnauzer sits in a patch of afternoon sun with his bushy eyebrows and silver beard, his gaze fixed firmly away from the camera. In front of him, the TV remote lies on the floor, its buttons gnawed and its edges chipped, with a few crumbs of plastic scattered around.

Miniature Schnauzers are sturdy, alert little dogs that began as farm helpers and ratters. They are bright, spirited and love being involved in family life, and their expressive beards and eyebrows give them a wonderfully serious look. They also tend to be vocal watchdogs who like to keep busy, so a bored Schnauzer may invent his own jobs.

Remotes carry small batteries that can be dangerous when swallowed, so if your dog has chewed a remote and any piece is missing, call your vet or an emergency clinic right away. In general, keeping electronics out of reach and providing safe chew toys of different textures can help. Their wiry coats also need regular brushing and professional grooming to stay neat.

Walter keeps up the act with great skill. Staring into the distance with a perfect poker face, he proves that sometimes a long, thoughtful look at nothing is the best defense.
