A Sphynx Cat Found the Treat Bag and Appointed Himself Guard
Crunchy little treats are scattered across the table, and a gray Sphynx cat has sat down beside the ripped-open bag with a very hopeful stare. His large ears stand upright, his yellow-green eyes are wide, and his long neck stretches forward. Keys, a magazine, and a blanket sit nearby, and golden light pours through a window. It is a treat spill, and he has appointed himself the official guardian.
Cats have a keen sense of smell and treats are made to be irresistible, so a stray bag is often an easy target. Sphynx cats, in particular, are known for being energetic, social, and quite food loving, perhaps because they burn more energy to keep warm. Treats are fine in moderation, but they should make up only a small part of the daily diet, and overeating can lead to weight gain. Storing treats in a sealed container, out of paw reach, protects both the bag and the waistline. If your cat gobbles a large amount and seems unwell, call your vet.
He does not seem worried, just pleased at his discovery. The table now needs a good wipe, and the bag, a sturdy clip. For the moment he is calmly claiming his prize, and no one in the room has the heart to argue. If treats could talk, they would say the cat arrived first and asked questions later.
