A Schnauzer Settles Into a Bed of Tulip Petals and Looks Away
Pink and red tulip petals are strewn across the bedspread, and a black and silver Miniature Schnauzer sits right in the middle of them with his bearded face turned away. Stems and leaves lie flat beneath his paws, and a few whole blooms still lie nearby, looking a bit squashed. His ears are folded forward, and his bushy eyebrows give him a serious, thoughtful expression. In the background, a pair of slippers, a mug of tea, a denim jacket, and a plant on the floor complete the sunny bedroom.
Miniature Schnauzers were bred as farm dogs to hunt rats, so they are alert, spirited, and full of opinions. They are also smart and need regular exercise and training to stay out of trouble. Some flowers are not safe for pets, and tulips in particular can cause stomach upset or worse, especially the bulbs, so it is wise to keep bouquets out of reach and to check which plants in your home are safe. If you think your dog has chewed on a flower, call your vet or a pet poison hotline. Schnauzer beards also need regular grooming and cleaning.
For now, he is a serious little gentleman who has chosen to look away. The tulips may not have had their best day, but the dog seems calm about his decision. It is one of those moments where a fluffy beard does most of the apologizing.
