A Great Dane Looks Up Sadly Beside a Spilled Bag of Soil
A fawn Great Dane sits on the patio looking up with enormous, worried eyes, and right beside him a bag of potting soil lies on its side with dark earth spilling across the concrete. His ears flop, his jowls droop, and his big paws are scattered with crumbs of soil. Behind him are the signs of an interrupted gardening day: a green watering can, a pair of work gloves, flower pots, and a wicker basket. The air is calm, and he is clearly hoping everyone will stay calm too.
Great Danes are gentle giants, famous for being calm, loving, and often convinced that they are lap dogs. Their size means tall shelves and garden counters are easy for them to reach, so gardening supplies should be stored safely. Potting soil can contain fertilizers or other additives that are not safe for dogs to eat, so it is best to keep bags closed and out of reach. Great Danes also need joint-friendly exercise and a good diet, and your vet can help you plan for them. A sturdy, patient training routine suits this breed well.
The Dane does not seem to know what to do with all that size, but he does know how to look sorry. Maybe it was the interesting smell, or maybe it was simply a bag in the way. Either way, the patio will need a sweep, and the big gentle face will be forgiven long before the broom comes out.
