Breakfast Was Waiting. The Curly Little Dog Had Her Eye on the Croissant.
Morning light floods the kitchen, and a curly chocolate-brown Havanese sits right beside a breakfast table with her nose lifted and her eyes fixed on the spread. A buttery croissant waits on a plate with a bite taken out of it, a pat of butter rests on a dish, and fruit, avocado toast and scrambled eggs sit around the edges. Crumbs are scattered across the table. A blue towel and a bunch of bananas sit in the background. She's looking away with great dignity. We'll call her Espresso.
Havanese are happy, curious companion dogs who love being near their family. They are quick learners, and clever dogs often notice exactly where the food is. Many breakfast items are not suitable for dogs, including onions, grapes, chocolate and anything sweetened with xylitol, and rich foods like butter can upset their stomachs. It helps to keep plates away from the table edge and to teach a reliable leave it cue. If you think your dog ate something harmful, call your vet. Their silky coats are easy to keep clean with regular brushing, and plenty of cuddle time keeps them content.
Espresso has found a spot with a very good view, and she's pretending to look at the window instead of the croissant. Her people are on their way back to the table, and the breakfast will need a second look. Her calm profile is going to be hard to argue with.
