The Royal Chef Wore the Tallest Hat in the Palace. Then Came the Look.
The chef's hat towers above the head like a small cloud, crisp and creased, and under it sits a grey Devon Rex with enormous ears and round amber eyes. His green velvet coat is covered in gold scrollwork with a row of round buttons, and a white cravat is tucked neatly at his throat. Behind him, a wall of faded red and gold flowers makes the whole scene look like a kitchen corridor in a grand palace. The expression is the best bit: calm, a little suspicious, as if someone just suggested adding more salt. Let's call him Chef Pepin.
Devon Rex cats are famous for their soft, wavy, very short coats, their wide-set big ears and their pixie faces. They are known for being people-loving and playful, and many follow their owners from room to room, which makes a kitchen job feel natural. Because the coat is so fine, they can feel the cold and often seek out warm laps and sunny spots. Their large ears may need gentle cleaning from time to time, and your vet can show you how. As for real kitchens, keep cats off hot surfaces and away from onions, garlic and chocolate, all of which are unsafe for them.
Chef Pepin does not need a stove to look impressive. One slow blink from under that hat and the whole palace staff would agree dinner is in capable paws.
