The Queen Mother Wore Black Lace and Pearls. Her Eyes Said More.
Dark lace falls softly around this brindle and white Boston Terrier's face and drapes down over her shoulders, framing big round eyes that look right into the room. A white blaze runs between those eyes, her ears stand tall and neat, and a small ruff of black lace sits at her throat above a strand of pearls. The gown is black velvet worked with gold flowers and pearl trim, and the dark background makes her white chest glow. She is every inch a queen mother, serious and gracious, though one ear seems to be listening for a snack.
Boston Terriers are often called the American Gentleman, and the tuxedo-like markings make the title easy to believe. They are friendly, lively and good with families, and they tend to be happy in apartments as long as they get daily walks and play. Like other flat-faced breeds, they can struggle in heat and during hard exercise, so cool, shaded outings and plenty of water are wise. Their prominent eyes also deserve a little care, so keep an eye out for redness and talk to your vet if anything looks off. Short coats need only a quick weekly brush.
The veil may be solemn, but the face under it is warm. Some queens rule with a scepter, and some with the sweetest worried eyebrows in the kingdom.
