Two Fawn Puppies Discovered Fresh Snow and Went Straight to Wrestling

AI imagechihuahuasnowwinter

Fresh snow blankets the backyard, and two fawn puppies have wasted no time leaving their mark. Tiny paw prints dot the powder all around them as they face off nose to nose, one with a front paw raised and planted on his sibling's chest, the other leaning in with mouth slightly open for a playful nip. Their ears are perked, their short tails are up, and snowflakes cling to their sandy-colored coats. A bare hedge and a wooden fence stand quiet in the cold background.

Chihuahuas are among the breeds most sensitive to cold. Their small size and, in many cases, short coats mean they lose body heat quickly, and puppies even more so. A few minutes of snowy play can be fun, but outings should be brief, with a warm, dry spot waiting indoors afterward. A well-fitted dog sweater or coat can help on chilly walks. Pay attention to paws, too: snow can ball up between toes, and de-icing salts and chemicals on sidewalks can irritate pads and are harmful if licked. Wiping paws with a damp cloth after a walk is a good habit. Shivering, lifting paws, or trying to turn back home are all signs it's time to head inside.

These two look like they could keep wrestling all morning, but someone will likely scoop them up and carry them back into the warmth before long.

Snow days are better with a sibling. Warm towels afterward are better still.
