The Flower Pot Had a New Bloom Sitting in It This Morning

Someone's terracotta flower pot is no longer holding a plant. A Blenheim puppy sits in it instead, front paws propped on the rim, chestnut ears spilling over her shoulders and a red patch sitting just above one eye. A lamp glows beside her and a green knit throw drapes the nearby couch, giving the whole scene the feel of a very cozy plant shelf with a much better plant.

Puppies love tight, snug spaces, and a pot, bowl, or basket can feel like the perfect fit. In general, that is harmless, but a few cautions apply. Soil, fertilizer, and mulch can upset a dog's stomach, and some houseplants are toxic when chewed. Before letting a curious puppy near a potted plant, check whether it is a safe variety, and ask your vet if you are unsure.

Pots can also tip, so a heavy, sturdy one on a stable surface is best. If your puppy likes to climb in and out, make sure the area around the pot is clear of anything she might knock over.

Cavaliers are often described as charming and adaptable, and this one certainly seems to have mastered the art of posing. She looks down, over, and out of her little pot with the calm confidence of a puppy who knows exactly how adorable she is, and has decided to be gracious about it.
